Evangelist, Kenneth Johnson
The union of Kenney and Rene Johnson was orchestrated by the power of God’s love. This unlikely couple met over 20 years ago on a blind date while Kenney was a sophomore at Edmonds College in Seattle, Washington. Kenney and Rene are the proud parents of four gifts from God: Derrick, Marcellus, Keanna, and Darius. They have reared their family in the Northwest for much of their marriage but they are thankful for their new home in Sacramento and have lived their for the last ten years.
Brother Kenney Johnson is a by-product of the Church; Kenney cherishes his early christian experiences as he both witnessed and was an active participant with the explosion of evangelism in the Los Angeles area. Brother Johnson was baptized at the San Pedro Church of Christ at the age of 9 years old under the mentorship of W.W. Godboat Sr. He preached his first sermon at 10 years old. Kenney’s late father Lonnie Johnson taught Rene the gospel of Christ who had no previous religious knowledge, and she was baptized into Christ in 1989.
Kenney has worked as a Project Manager and Director of Facilities for several multi-family developers and a Healthcare facility. He holds a B.A. degree in Communication Management and is currently working on a Masters in Theology at Southern University. He also served over seas in the United States Navy during the Dessert Storm operation.
Kenney has served as the Minister of the May Street congregation in Sacramento, California fsince 2002. He conducts workshops and speaks at several lectureships for the Churches of Christ throughout the year. Rene Johnson has been the heart of the Johnson family; she has worked professionally in Property Management, yet she has dedicated her life to raising four children, and is the consummate Christian homemaker. Rene has worked with children’s ministry as well as with the teen girls. Rene has also spoken at Ladies lectureships and conducted workshops as well.
